CCEMC Annual Report – Update
On January 13, the CCEMC was made aware of an error in the printed version of the 2010 Annual Report. On page 11 of this report, the sentence starting with “The reason is simple: steam generation at the upgrader level…”, was printed in error.
This section should read:
ESEIEH Consortium
Enhanced Solvent Extraction Incorporating Electromagnetic Heating ($16,474,839)
The Harris Corporation of Melbourne, Florida, Laricina Energy Ltd., Nexen Inc., and Suncor Energy Inc. make up the ESEIEH Consortium. The goal is to replace steam for in situ bitumen extraction with electromagnetic heating in combination with solvent dilution.
The ESEIEH process eliminates the need for steam, requiring less energy while providing an improved framework for significant reduction in carbon emissions. On a full cycle basis, emissions may be reduced by up to 80 percent of the GHG from steam-assisted gravity drainage.
